There are student flats on the seafront at Aberystwyth. Last time we had gales stones from the beach got thrown through the windows.

Predicted to be wet and windy here tomorrow morning .. it's breezy and raining at present - the forecast for tomorrow is wind WSW which is not good for us as it funnels up the solent - we had a strongish wind last night but almost due South so not much of a problem - few bits blown about in the garden but tomorrow I'm expecting fence panels blown out as they are all sodden with the rain we've had. At least we are better off than you folks in the front line down in West Wales. Batten down and keep safe all of you, not a night to be out and about.

Forecast I’ve seen, is predicting winds from N to NW for tomorrow. Stating as this is an unusual direction for gales, it is likely to cause damage to / uprooting of trees .
Last week I had the council inspect an oak directly across the road from my property and they found it to be dangerous- the trunk at ground level was a mass of a root fungus - and they declared it must be felled. I was hoping a tree surgeon was going to do it!

WSW overnight, backing West in the morning and then N to NNW late afternoon/evening by which time the fun and games should be over. Consistently 20-30mph whilst it lasts. Isle of Wight ferries already issuing warnings of possible cancellations and delays. Tree tops in my garden are already tuning up ! I have a 130 foot Lawsons in the garden and watching the top of that scares me witless when it really gets going. It stayed up in the '87 gale when most of the trees in the area came down but the ground is very wet at present.

According to “Weather&Radar” the winds will be 50 - 55mph for you - 60 for me…tomorrow.

There is a fascinating book called ‘How to read a Tree’ by Tristan Gooley. I highly recommend reading it.

Got one of those alertd whilst driving back from near Gloucester last night. Definitely sobering although got home well before anything kicked off. Wish we were more rural.

@jenkinsbrynmair that Madeira Penderyn is rather nice isn't it. Welsh friends visiting next weekend so might see if they can bring a bottle!

Just spoke to the lad, a stock trailer which is out in the field is now in the neighbours field and sat on its side 😳 it flattened two stock fences which were either side of a drive way.
A few things blown over but luckily hard pruned my 100 year old walnut last year so fingers crossed it may stay standing. Chickens don't think much of It. 😆

Blowing quite hard here now .. one fence panel that I knew was going to come down is now down and smashed to pieces, I got lucky one of my neighbours who had about 10 panels down - a new fence he had put up about 2 years ago ... I told him to have the wooden posts replaced with concrete ones - decided to save some money and now he's got to do it all again. There are bits blowing around the garden and some branches down and the wind is still very much in the West which is not good for us. Nothing by comparison to what's happening in the West - West Wales getting hammered at present - hope you are all OK.
