Gusts of well over 70mph forecast here for the weekend. I don't recall ever seeing that high before. I shall be taking some time tomorrow to go around and check that everything is strapped down well...

Urgh. I went out delivering honey late this afternoon and got absolutely soaked. Looks like the storm might have arrived a bit early.

We had the rain and flooding in the area, blocked gullies and drains, absolutely inexcusable. In Ramsbottom reports of desperate 85 years young lady joining locals trying to clear tops of gullies and limit damage The winds seem to be below 20mph here. Hope everyone comes through unscathed

The rain seems to have slowed here for the moment, but the wind hasn't. I reckon the power line engineers are in for a tough few days. We've had a couple of outages since 5:30pm and there are two areas to the north and west of us that have been without electricity for well over six hours now. Most of the supply cabling here is overhead. It really can't be much fun at all working on overhead cables in strong winds in the dark and cold when pretty much everything is wet.

Not too bad here James. But the flood plains are half full already. Good luck

Don't worry, starting tomorrow the anticyclone will settle to the west of Ireland that will bring you plenty of sunshine.

Oooh. We now have a red wind warning issued about twenty minutes ago for west Wales and the coastal area of Somerset and Devon along the Severn Estuary.

All quiet here in West Wales so far. Absolutely still with a watery winter sun shining.
yes, it was a crisp winter morning here with the mercury just wavering between3 and 4 degrees C getting a wee bit darker now, but no wind or rain. But I'd better transfer that bottle of special edition Penderyn Madeira cask malt to a secure place - that will at least mitigate the moaning and screaming of both the winds and SWMBO
candles already on standby

Very quiet and still currently. Noticeable reduction in bird activity this pm. Air pressure has started to drop according to our barometer.

You know in the old days we had gale warnings. If it was raining you put on a raincoat and if was blowing a hoolie you stayed at home. Why do we need traffic lights to tell us we can go out.
What’s a green warning by the way?

Are the candles to add to the romance if the whiskey doesn't do it

Peed it down nearly all last night (Thursday to Friday morning) so the paddocks were lakes. It's was windy today but not inordinately so. I'm past believing weather forecasts as anything more than educated guesses
