I'm guessing here thats its actually a pressure washer.

Cillit Bang is banned in our house since my wife pitted the polished aluminium shower screen

I noticed a lot of the chrome taps etc in the hospital were dulled..

Well I could just do it but I wasn't sure if the steam would be too hot & damage a poly hive, so rather than just do it & wreck a hive I thought I would ask, I know I can use washing soda & cillit bang, its the steam I was wondering about.

Okay, I understand.

First of all, I don't have a steam cleaner so have no experience of using one, but I do have access to a wallpaper stripper.

I've used a brood box as a container for the wallpaper stripper, once. I'd hesitate to use a steam jet actually on unpainted polystyrene because I think it could get between the polystyrene granules, possibly damage the surface and maybe even make it break down. But I don't know for sure. I don't plan to buy a steam cleaner to try it out.

Read post 17.

Actually post 13 is where to start!

Looking around Sainsbury's the other day, checking the ingredients labels, I didn't find any Cillit product that admitted to the (caustic soda) alkali+bleach formulation.
But I did find one like that which was a (cheaper) Sainsbury's own brand product...

I cleaned some perspex crown boards & some plastic feeders today with cillit bang with bleach in today, i couldnt believe how easily it dissolved the propolis, thanks all, i will try it on the second hand poly hive i bought then i will know it works for my others. :)
