I would have thought the post Brexit changes/charges now incurred would make it prohibitively expensive as a business.

Howver, my only experience is in sending a bicycle to Germany; for my own use - an industry of middlemen has been created out of nothing.

How does it work in the reverse situation ? amazon seems to have no problem shipping many items in either direction. I recently purchased some commercial window cleaning poles from Belgium without any problems. Do we have problems due to spite from 1 or both sides ... I think we do

I've sent honey to Germany. It got returned the first attempt. On the second it got through. Filled in the CN22 declaration both times, but on the second attempt I put more info including where the honey was from and that it was labelled in accordance with EU requirements

Don't know about post but UK customs wouldn't allow my cousin to take a jar in baggage on the plane back to NL.
that would have been some jobsworth in 'security' and not BF - small amounts of honey (a coule of kilos or so IIRC) in hold baggage are allowed to most countries (Australia being one exception) liquids in hand baggage are of course restricted because of anti terrorist concerns

However "honey" from China seems to be accepted in any quantity under a variety of guises.

My brother visits from Australia most Summers and regularly takes a couple of jars of my honey back with him. The customs folk in Brisbane are quite happy for him to import the honey as long as it is properly labelled, security labelled, runny and not any set variety so that it can receive visual inspection. They are not happy with set / soft set honey as they can't easily give it a visual check for any unwanted inclusions.

What is meant by security labelled ?

They wouldn't let me take a jar in in 2006. It was a present for a relative, I reckon customs fought over it !

Probably each state is different. I don't reckon he'd get it into Tasmania for instance. I've never seen any honey from the UK.
We don't have deformed wing virus in Australia yet. Can that be present in honey?

I sent 3 jars of my honey to my brother in Ireland 2 years ago as a present in the post. He was hit with 25 Euros in charges before he could receive it. Something neither of us were aware of. This year I got my sister to take some over in her suitcase when visiting him and she had no problems at all. Before Brexit my honey got through no problem!

Thank you Ladies and Gentlemen. This thread has some very useful info. My parcel of honey was held up at German customs for a week while FedEx and I exchanged emails and forms multiple times.

What have I learned.

You get four different pieces of paper attach each one to a different side of the parcel but not the top where it can be opened.
These should be the address label, the proforma, which describes the contents and has the value and tariff code( sign it), a commercial invoice which shows you have paid the courier and another form in triplicate.
Duplicate everything and put that in a separate pouch for the courier. He will give you one back signed.
Then pray
Most couriers will accept liquids if they are parcelled securely and in no larger a container than one litre.
You can send 2kg of honey to the EU from the U.K.
It was a gift of low value so there was no duty

10/10 to German customs for being patient and not just throwing the parcel in the bin.

During the early 1970s long before emails, a friend of mine (ex pat) in RSA was faced with an apparently steep charge for a parcel from her mother in UK. Knowing already it was a huge birthday card and it didn't have money tucked in it, she simply declined but sent a letter of thanks to mother anyway.

Cabin baggage honey is a no-no. In the hold it's fine. Personal experience. I offered it to the lady who confiscated it but she said although she loved honey it was against the rules until the "over 100ml rule was scrapped". I then told her she wouldn't need to confiscate it as it was for my friend. Smelly cheese was OK!

Yes in the hold is fine.
I was trying to clarify posting it.
