no offence but why would they take any notice if I signed it and dont live anywhere near there?

Read the stuff. Seems a nice place to live. Signed.

Thank You - It's a beautiful spot.

Derbys and Notts. Councils had a grant of £40,000 to put up the bridge eight years ago, it was actually planned and built but never put in place because of disagreements between the two parties. The grant was then lost due to a time limit.

Now the two villages on each side of the canal are trying to put things right.

http://www.petitiononline.co.uk/petition/bring-back-the-jacksdale-codnor-park-iron-bridge/4400

This is a petition to present to Derbyshire County Council and Amber Valley Borough Council to reinstate the former Butterley “Iron Bridge” that once joined our communities together.

By replacing the old historic bridge our communities will benefit from:
1. Easier access to each other and to shops
2. Easier and safer access to nature walks, hence improving our health
3. Have a monument to the former industry that built our villages

The original Butterley Iron Bridge over the canal was erected in 1943/1944 and removed controversially over an Easter period prior to the outcropping of coal at the forge site and never replaced. We need 1000 signatures before the relevant authorities will consider our petition.

I did on the 5th canals and their bridges are close to my heart.

Thank you Tom,

If you look on your link you will see a further link to the e-petition.
