Leaving aside the likely thermal issues, I'd suggest reading up a bit on bee vision before the next such session.

Colours are for my benefit not theirs......;)

Fair enough if they are to be located well apart (which must reduce the appeal of the 'set'), but being able to identify which mating nuc (from a group) is 'home' on return from mating flights is considered to be rather important - and a principal reason many give for painting the things.

Quite apart from the colours, as I understand it, three of those shapes would appear identically shaped to the bees. (The cross is the only one they could spot being different.)
