how did the bees build all that comb on the queen excluder? was it above or below the Q/E

It was below the qe

.
Too much big gaps that bees are able to draw so high wild combs.

Something odd too that bees have tansported a huge amount of propolis.
Looks like loft is too cold and they have tried to stuck extra ventilation.

I am still intrigued how they can build that brace comb below the qe . Was the brace comb hanging between the frames or was the qe sitting above the level of the top of the brood box ?
Did you have a small eke or something on the brood box ?

Now first I think you should read Lois's post asking for help with her hives. I don't know how to link them to this one.

There was a small Apiguard eke that was on and a dummy board which they built the comb between and the hive wall.

Myself and Village Girl went with Lois to offer some support but Lois done a very good job inspecting her hives with out interference from myself or Village.

We have both offered to return and help if needed but my honest opinion is that she is confident in doing so by herself.

The eke answers the question we were all asking, but George got there first..... Give them room and they will fill it!

If its a linked thread please link them , I dont read all threads on the forum .
Sorry I dont have time ;)

When I go next I will take a photo but it looks just like a hive should! Full of bees and smelling lovely.
