I don't wear a bee suit at all, probably look even more suspicious.

I travel between 6 sites quite regularly all on the same day to check my 50 odd hives weekly / as required.
I do not take my suit off between apiaries, I unzip the hood and throw it back, I think the sight of driving in my undies would get more strange looks and draw a bit more attention.
If transporting bees I do the same, the hood can go up fairly quickly whilst buying me enough time to pull over if I had a problem. Certainly if I had an accident with a dozen hives of bees in the van I would be grateful I was wearing my suit.
I have a friend who attends his bees stark naked... except for a veil!

"The beekeeper driver could have been transporting bees so having your suit on, and veil on, would be sensible."
no need if hives properly strapped and well wrapped in net-curtain/mozzie net.
Went to an accident once where painter was carrying paint. The impact was so great every tin of paint burst open. I would always have my veil handy. You never know when you are going to get hit by some other *****!

I imagine that you will soon see designer bee suits in the shops, all different colours / patterns will be available kids will be loitering on street corners in them and they will be banned from town centre shopping malls.
