I don't wear a bee suit at all, probably look even more suspicious.

I sometimes drive with hood on when I have bees in car.
Last year I picked up a swarm from the previous night at about 4:30am. As I drove out a panda car was passing in the other direction. The officers looked at me, stopped their vehicle but did not turn round and follow.
2 days later I had a call to a nearby village. As I drove past the police station a car pulling out scrutinised me and followed. I suspect my car/plate rang a bell.
I parked to pick up the swarm and started to get suit etc on. Police car pulled up on other side of road and officers got out.
Half way across the road they could see the swarm and my reason for suiting up.
They just put their hands up and retreated.
Problem is they will no longer accept my excuse that I am a lady in a burka!!!

I travel between 6 sites quite regularly all on the same day to check my 50 odd hives weekly / as required.
I do not take my suit off between apiaries, I unzip the hood and throw it back, I think the sight of driving in my undies would get more strange looks and draw a bit more attention.

If transporting bees I do the same, the hood can go up fairly quickly whilst buying me enough time to pull over if I had a problem. Certainly if I had an accident with a dozen hives of bees in the van I would be grateful I was wearing my suit.

Exactly what I do.

If there is a car behind me or approaching I often wait till they have passed before getting out of the car to open a field gate. Partly to not make it obvious but also not to freak people out!

when transporting bees I have my suit on but hood not up, I also have a few laminated signs saying live bees being transported, its funny I never have any tailgaters when its in the back window lol.

I always also wear my suit between sites unless its very hot when I will change it and change my tshirt to as I could be really hot.

"The beekeeper driver could have been transporting bees so having your suit on, and veil on, would be sensible."

no need if hives properly strapped and well wrapped in net-curtain/mozzie net.

Went to an accident once where painter was carrying paint. The impact was so great every tin of paint burst open. I would always have my veil handy. You never know when you are going to get hit by some other *****!

:yeahthat:Handy but NOT WORN.

We must remember that our hobby has now been hijacked by the trendie-mob and it is now a cool thing to do.

I imagine that you will soon see designer bee suits in the shops, all different colours / patterns will be available kids will be loitering on street corners in them and they will be banned from town centre shopping malls.

Just need to clarify one thing to enable me to do some number crunching....

Where do the bees get the honey?
