Already have a 3M mask but I dont think it's up to standard. Here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000VDPNCQ/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

From reading old threads on here it seems you need eye protection as well and the recommended standard is:

ABEK1 P3 RD

I can pick up a 3m 6000 series full face mask on ebay.

The filters 6099; are these the right ones or can you get away with the cheaper 6059?

You need a P3 mask..

If it's any help these are the 2 filters I use with a half mask. The 6059 is fine but is not designated as a particulate filter, you need to add one on top of it.
Its 6059 with a clip on holder holding a P3 particulate filter. They work, although the organic vapour might be overkill.

3m 6000 series half mask reusable respirator 6200 medium or 6300 large
Filter-
1. 3M 6059 ABEK1 Organic Vapour Filters / 6000 SERIes
2. 1 Pair 3M 501 Filter Retainer For Use 5000 6000 7000 Series particulate Filters
3. 3M 5935 / P3 Particulate Filters

Excellent, almost half the cost doing it this way than the 6099.

Still attacks your eyes.

About £50 for the peace of mind to avoid you coughing your lungs out or going blind is money well spent I think.

Spot on. If you have an "active" i.e sublimox type of vaporiser you need mask and filters. FULL STOP.

You'll be going back and editing all those posts where you poo pooed us guys who took health and safety seriously?

Nope i wont dear forum member ... i normally use the pan type 12v vapouriser which is fairly safe and i will still use it without a mask.. but i am now trying to move over to a quicker method which is not fairly safe.. so there you have it no editing required.
This post was edited but not by me..;)

Whats the difference?

Sublimated oxalic is dangerous - whatever the method.

Whatever filters you buy make sure they the words acid gasses are in the description
