Most members and visitors come to this forum looking for advice and wisdom. Good natured banter is fine, but all too often a sensible thread is derailed due to trolling, point scoring and snide abuse, making the thread disjointed and difficult to follow. Useful and relevant content is diluted by nah-nah-na-na-na nonsense. The usual suspects are well known and some are mentioned above. I think the moderation is pretty tolerant compared to other fora I visit.

Another one for the valueless pile.
At least Jbm and o90o post mostly about bees rather than people, or rather they used to:(

Let's take just the last page of his posts.
I make it 14 insulting mocking folk
11 about bees.
That's roughly 60% of posts being deliberately insulting and doesn't include the ones that needed deleting.
Seems about right to me for his performances over the last year or so.

Bit like an 80's Italian football game. Technically good player gets sent off for his 187th niggly foul, suddenly goes all wide-eyed innocence while his team mates surround the referee insisting the other guy should be dismissed.

Well put !!

Strangely enough, it was pure coincidence! But I notice your straight onto your high horse. Missing your muckers?

Makes me laugh how some on here are so self righteous when it comes to those who have been banned,Talk about the pot calling the kettle black .

Not just Dusty and Kaz ...

Those of us who have been on here a few years will remember some other names that are no longer seen. Many of them stopped posting with the arrival of two particularly unpleasant creatures - Flabellum and Thymallus.. thankfully both received lifetime bans and will never be missed but the following (along with JBM and RAB) are sorely missed. Prolific posters and knowledgeable beekeepers who lent so much credence to this forum in its early days and I miss their contributions, social context and occasionally humour. Perhaps it was just a coincidence when they left or just stopped posting ?- You'd have to ask them.

Tom Bick – still reads but doesn’t post.
Dpearce4 - still here but rarely posts
BeeJayBee – left us completely
Redwood - only 2 posts this year
Ely – still drops by but doesn’t post
Tryingtolethembee – still here but only one post this year
Queens59 – Left us completely
Muswell Metro – still around but two posts this year
Cussword – Still drops in but no longer posts
ChrisB – Left us completely
Karol – drops by but a handful of posts this year
Chris Luck – Left us completely
Bossleu – Drops by but one post this year

and there are more ... sad loss.

Thanks Philip: I'm touched. I had a sort of Aspy moment where I got into an unwinnable discussion about mortality and took a break. Haven't really got into the swing since. But I am "here" more often now. On RAB and JBM, huge content: IMO one is fine but the other has a really nasty streak here in anonymous text land. Not personally, I am sure. They can fight over which! Overall I look forward to getting them back. JBM: you are quite right, drone foundation is a bad idea and good only for making a frame of capped drones to IPM varroa. And Philip: look on the bright side, Finman is "here"...

That's a special pair of rose tinted glasses you have there.
I can think of half a dozen occasions off the top of my head when Jbm's posts have been deleted by moderators. How much warning did he need?
If you truly haven't seen reason for a ban, then clearly you should be thanking the moderators for cleaning up his abusive posts instead of questioning their impartiality.

:yeahthat:

they both have a way of telling you straight, which makes you go away and check it out what they have told you, some times you need to be told straight without a lot of bull.

Good to see you back .. the forum needs a bit of balance these days; My old Gran used to say, empty cans make the most noise and there's a fair few empty cans on here at present. Stick around and post a bit .. make the place better.

I have more in common with Finny than some on here now ... indeed, I've even come to actual liking some of the things he says.

Totallly .. if you suggest something stupid expect to be challenged, think about it, man up and move on.

And whilst I'm here - welcome back, I missed you off my list of absent posters but consider yourself added, stick around and post a bit more.

Phil

You must be one of the most frequent posters?

Not really .. 9k posts in 7 years .. have a look at Millet & Beefriendly .. perhaps you should look at the daily post rate in the members statistics and not at the total number of posts - I've been here a few years.

We have something in common .. both been banned .. but I think you are in the lead there ?

Mine were only short term for brawling with Finman .. remind me what your's were for and for how long ?

Bit of an aftethought that only jossing eh ? Many a true word ..

Whilst you are doing could you have a quiet word with your rude mate Millet .. I'm getting a bit fed up of him now.

Looks like someone has taken notice ... his rude posts are being deleted ... perhaps that's a warning ? Don't I recall someone suggesting that deletiion of posts could be considered a warning to improve .... or get banned ?

Oh yes .. SDM ..
