Hi there, a quick question, that I,m sure has been dealt with a million times.
I'm going to increase my brood box size ( as room seems to be a constant issue). Going from standard national to 14x12.
Is now a good time?
When is the best time? (I can wait). My heart tells me that the tail end of the flow might be a good time. Maybe I'm wrong?
Thanks

Well if it were me I would do it as a Bailey comb change in the spring. Lot of foundation to draw now I reckon.

:iagree: or a shook swarm - it really gets them going (wax building and brood rearing) apparently. Wait until the spring build up starts then go for it

Yep! That's the way to go, bailey exchange when Spring flow is on next year , supplementary feed if necessary!
They will draw beautiful straight comb, right down to the corners!

Splendid. Spring it is. Thank you very much. Cheers

Bees really dunna want to draw wax late in the season. The same might also apply after swarming season.
