I am going to have my first attempt at queen rearing this year, just for my own hives. I have a Thornes honey warming cabinet & also a separate digital thermometer with humidity indicator. In due course I want to make an incubator, it will be similar to the honey warmer, but with a viewing window and a digital thermostat, water pan, fan, and probably thicker insulation, as I have some of 100mm Kingspan spare. But this will take time and be later in the summer.
Has anyone ever used a honey warmer for queen cell incubation? I thought I could add a pan of water for humidity, check out the thermostat & mark the correct setting, not just rely on what the analogue thermostat says, and maybe stick a few sealed gallon containers of water in it, to keep the temperature more constant.
Thank you.
