I didn't expect my much-loved STC1000 to break, but the heating part of the thermostat failed. Result: the cooling part stayed on, struggling to keep the heat down. I spotted it before any honey was damaged.

It was a simple matter to get a new unit, fit it, and see everything working again. Finding a nice piece of kit is a bit like finding a good tradesman: the joy of seeing a job well done.

The soft start, how did you achieve that ?

You can buy soft start units on the likes of ebay these days. They just wire into the power switch. I think I crimped a few spade connectors onto the one I bought and then I was able to connect it without even cutting any wiring.

Finished making crownboards and I brought home some more scrap from work so I can make a few more clearer boards though I've got no further with that than trimming the wood for the sides to width.

This evening has been an extended wrestling session with Libre Office, designing some new labels. The important one is hopefully finally complete and I'm just dithering over whether to make a granulation label for the back of the jar. I don't really feel the need, but on the other hand it is an opportunity to have a bit of a poke at cheap supermarket honey :D
