Home made beeswax products

My wife has recently made some rather nice beeswax lip balm with completely natural ingredients, and now thinking of trying some other things like hand lotion etc..

Idea being to try on a few friends and get their opinion and then possibly look to sell on a craft stall.

Being cosmetics I would imagine there is a barrage of red tape - does anyone know what you need (certificate, licenses etc) ?

You will need a cosmetic safety licence from a qualified chemist before being able to sell to the public and it's not cheap.

Did you have the wax tested, there can be a lot of contaminants.

There was an article in a fairly recent BBKA newsletter about getting products tested, I have looked but can't find maybe someone can help?
We only use cosmetic grade beeswax and had a chemist friend sign off each product. On a recent visit from Environmental Health officer we had all docs and processes checked thankfully all was in order...phew !

The wax is triple filtered but also trying to find out about what makes beeswax a cosmetic grade.

Have only made for our own use as yet so before letting anyone else try it I want to make sure I have the facts, I don't want to burn anyone's lips off
