So for some the holidays start tomorrow.

I Know;
What I should do, (weather dependant). :yeahthat:

What S.H.W.M.O. wants me to do. :icon_204-2:

What I intend to try & get done/started. :ohthedrama:

What I'll probably end up doing. :spy:

What are your plans? ? ?

it's Easter - apart from the obvious, craft fair in our community centre Saturday and they've asked me to have a stall selling honey and candles.
I may think about opening a few hives, I may also think about climbing Everest.
The latter would be more likely for quite a while yet so it will just be a bit of frame building and maybe knocking up another hive stand.

Looking forward to skyping our daughter and her husband, loads to find out about their honey business in Australia.

Moving a colony to St Neots and IF weather is okay I'd like to check on one very inactive hive I'm worried about.
The OH wants decorating done not worthy

It's the Weather Forecast that looks gloomy. Will be lighting the woodburner early on Friday!

Working tonight which means I'll have to deal with the motorway madness tonight and again early Friday Morning on my way home!

If I can Keep the Boss out of my shed I will only need to clear enough room to access a clear work-surface, but if she sees the inside or worse starts to "tidy it up" herself.........:hairpull::hairpull:

Need to sneak to the allotment too.
Plant the seeds that should have been sprouting in the greenhouse by now.
Oh and buy an egg for SWMBO, :serenade:
tried to make a massive one once by covering a balloon with melted Chocolate (the balloon burst and the Kitchen got covered in Chocolate in stead)!

Aren't days off work so relaxing?

Holiday

I'm going away the last two weeks of April. Wondering just what to do with my hives before I go away.
May leave a couple of swarm catcher hives around my apiary and a small amount of fondant on the crown boards just in case.
Not sure if there will be much of a flow on but if it looks like ones beginning May then leave a super on instead.
Has anyone got any suggestions?
My mentor says he's going to put a queen included on his hives as he does not want to lose any bees while away

If drones are getting made in there what will they do when they need to go out for a dump.

Should be washing and ironing but will probably sort out my bee shed instead

Thinking about a third shed ......

I am actually off this weekend which is nice. Although I am missing out on double bubble both tomorrow and Monday.

I will probably spend my time walking the dog, waiting for the cat to give birth and knocking frames together as I have nothing better to do with my time and I have an absolute tonne of frames still to do. (It isn't necessary but is quite theraputic)

Weekends are usually busy with work so I may wander around aimlessly on Sunday wondering why all the shops are shut...

On holiday until Thursday - trekking from Lincs to Somerset tomorrow until Sunday to see the parents and brother.

Then moving the garden hives to out apiary and weather dependant having a look inside but only if warm enough.

Also need to finish painting the lounge, sort out the veggie garden and other misc tasks

The Easter break for me is about spending time with family and friends and celebrating real relationships. Kind of obvious really.

I imagine Easter egg hunts with the children will be high on agenda.

No work so some sleeping as well!

Whaaat? I haven't pulled a single frame yet and wasn't expecting to even consider it until mid april earliest!

I'm away until mid april... should I be scared they are going to swarm?? Or starve?

You seem to be predicting both.

Or are you just trying to cover ALL freak potentialities while you're away?

If we had a warm March then possible (two seasons ago I had them making swarm preps in mid April) but that was when OSR had flowered at start of April which it ain't going to do round me this year. You need to play it by the weather/season not by the calendar

If that's his style and thinks it's good swarm control why doesn't he leave it in all season and do away with weekly inspections. Those of us doing weekly inspections must be fools....
