Hi folks, after wondering if one of my hives was q- a few weeks ago, it seems she had just suspended laying and they are now doing well. Both hives are full of bees with brood and stores. One with 2 supers, the other with 1. Just wondered if lifting the crown board on matchsticks (or open the hole in the CB) to aid ventilation is necessary in this hot weather or if the mesh floor and no entrance block is sufficient. Cheers.

Mesh floor is sufficient. Entrance block is not even considered! Entrance is for bees to use for just that purpose (and exiting). Just think, would adding another 22mm make that much difference to a 440mm wide floor (even if it were only 50% free area)?
