Found a useful tool on Google earth today.
If you want to know the area of a field use the ruler tool and map the outside of the field and it can tell you the area in hectares.
Found a field of beans this morning 500m from an apiary and measured it, came back as 30 hectares.
Measured the osr field up the road and that was 65 hectares which is very close to what I had been told by the farmer.
I use Google Earth for mapping apiary sites so this is a handy feature.
If you already know then fair enough.

Yes there are some great features on google earth. The ruler is always used when I look at sites to decide how far there is between them. Or between apiaries and the best local forage.
