For this to work I seriously think the ground rule is payment with the order, and non refundable once paid. Other wise some are going to put in massive numbers and then back out when they realise what the cost is.

It's very easy to say oh it's only so much and quite another matter when the car needs an exhaust and the payment for foundation is due.

This will have to be done as above I feel.

PH

Payment with order is not a problem, however kbs should be able to state pre order what discount they will give on a sliding scale.

I am in Devon and keen to join in the South West buyers. 50 super and 50 brood foundation along with frames if they are available. I'm just South of Exeter. Great to make contact.

They have to a point. Obviously there is going to be a difference between an order of 1k and 3k, and (hopefully) 5k. As he said to me when you know what value you are ordering then I will offer you a discount to suit. To me that is fair enough.

Let's be honest here, if his discount starts at £400, which it will in Jan, then any improvement is an improvement more than most individuals on here can hope for.

Can we be realistic please?

PH

What I like about this idea is the Paypal payment.
I know KBS dont do Paypal and it puts many beeks off buying,me included..

Sending a cheque after writing out the envelope finding a stamp and going to the postbox Is way beyond my concentration limit, much better to just click a few buttons.

How about we give KBS a list of beeks who want there wax and we each phone up and pay over the phone for what we ordered. All they have to do is tick each person that pays. Those that dont by a deadline lose out.

I'm hoping so Admin :)

Argh no Weight....

He will quite rightly treat each one as an individual. He gains and we lose.

Put brain in gear please. LOL

Yes Hivemaker, over £400 is 20% and we are looking at several percentage points better than that.

£300 PH,and £150 is 10%.

If we can collect an order over £1000 then I don't think 25% minimum is out of order.

Wightbees - if weather ok early next year we will take boat to IOW to bring you an order. You will owe me a drink at the Folly!!

It is out of order. Sorry but this has been discussed.

As I posted already when we have an all up figure we can work out the discount. Until that point, if every one is braced to pay 100% (which they wont of course) then any discount over 20% is a bonus hmm?

One step at a time folks.

I note too that there is no rush to assist in gaining this saving.

I am going to be blunt here, I can generate my own wee discount. I am trying to help you all, yet not one of you had come forward to assist no only your own pocket but every one else's?

Step up and be counted please? Or shall we already forget it, wrecked on the reef of self interest? The curse of British Beekeeping.

Sorry you feel like that PH. To state my position and probably that of a number of others:

as I said earlier, I would be up for 20 sheets and maybe a bit of super. That means I'm not looking at huge savings. If there is a scheme operating I'm happy to be a part of it, so as to a) save a few bob, and b) add to the cumulative effect and help everyone else save a few bob. However my part in it is fairly miniscule, so I wouldn't expect to play a huge part in it. It may be more practical for just a few of the bigger boys to club together, and if you feel this would be better perhaps set a minimum amount.

I must confess I haven't been sure how the logistics would work, but hoped someone would come up with a solution I hadn't thought of. It's a nice idea, but the devil does have a habit of being in the detail.

Heather thats very kind of you, Coke and a bottle of vodka :D

Ph i don't mind helping but because of where i am i don't see alot i can do.
Amount i would be looking at is 10 packs of shallow Dadant maybe more but for the minute i will say 10 packs.
As for holding the money i think this needs names brought forward by those who wish to be considered.

I would be prepared to be a central collection or delivery point around my area. I always make sure I pay my share - up front. Did it last year, so no probs there. Have to take into account that the last time I worked was in July, though, and not really expecting to return to the job market until the new year.

Regards, RAB

Could we not set up a paypal account called: Beekeeping Forum Discount Club? all someone would have to do is administer it...with a few signees for withdrawals? If not a building Soc. then we could make deposits anywhere and have signees again?

We'd be happy to be depot for callers/and if peeps were willing to help with petrol also make reasonable deliveries...I would want to order (if 10 sheets a pack? Can't remember..sorry) 14x12 3 packs, WBC BB 2 packs & supers 4 packs. Just hope my dreams come true and I expand enough to use it...!!

And PH - THANKS FOR TRYING TO SET THIS UP - YOU ARE A STAR!!

Well i hope i'm wrong, because for many it could be a good idea that PH has thought of,but once it was going to be an online association, insurance ect....then country wide distribution of honey jars.....then the other recent thread thats gone quiet, online university for beekeepers.....was there any more....oh yes..this idea now.
Seems very much like trying to organise a darts night,or skittle night/fishing trip ect, plenty of people going to arrive....but the closer it gets to the day it's funny how many excuses come in with reasons they cannot make it.

I need time to approach the members of my Assoc and for them to work out quantities. This assessment cannot be done overnight and it has only been a thread for a couple of days. Surely if we spend a couple of weeks getting feedback from our own area -then we can give numbers to PH who can approach the supplier for the best discount.. Best deals not rushed Hivemaker :cheers2:

I DID bulk buy jars for whoever wanted- within my area- so I DID put my money where my mouth was....

p.s Hivemaker- fly fishing only!

I thought that I had read a number of people (including myself) offering assitance in moving the foundation around the country.

what do you need help with doing? if there is something else you need help with then you need to specify what it is you want doing so that someone can step up and help to get it done. :)

as is always the norm in any club, the great efforts of a few benefits the many
