Maybe it would have been wise to have contacted your credit card company to get answers before making this thread.

Why?
Right from the start, I have said it might be circumstantial. I don't know, and more importantly, neither do the fraud prevention department know how the information was gathered. The important thing is that it was stopped before any damage was done.

"after making the first transaction on that card in months"

This is what happened; Their software had signalled your card as a card that is never or very rarely used online, and suddenly there are two unrelated online transactions in one day.
They logged that as suspicious. Correctly.

No. I am not content. Neither am I making any allegations. So, there is no need to rush to anyones' defence.
My post was intended as a warning to others about the dangers of using your credit card online. The fraud prevention department at my credit card company seemed concerned enough to suspend my old card and send me a new one. That should be the end of the matter.

You linked the attempt on your card to your last purchase which has the potential to damage a company by your association of the fraud with that company.

Your CC details can be obtained from anywhere you have used it, your CC company would have told you that. Have they told you where the CC details were taken from? That's why I think you were wrong to link the company in the way you did.

You are welcome to your opinion.
I'm sure Gill doesn't think I was trying to make trouble for *Thornes*. My sole purpose was to warn forum members about what happened to me so that it wouldn't happen to them.

This should help you understand the size of the problem and help towards your understanding of how it works and help you keep to the facts. And perhaps help you keep your information safe.
