Winter has finally arrive here in S. Wales, bloody freezing here today. Dusting of snow overnight, the rain that fell before the snow came has frozen over, ice with snow on top and a nice chilly wind. On the good side the rain has stopped after over three weeks!

1cm of hail 4pm Friday.
2cms snow 8pm.
Partially melted and frozen.. side roads untreated and rather tricky..
Morning walk over the Moor was beautiful - valley below in white bathed in sunshine but cold wind..

Why don't drivers in snow learn that a delicate foot is required on accelerator?

Lovely sunny day here, bit cool mind.

Don't know what all the fuss is about!

Lovely sunny day but very chilly! There was ice on the haylage bales outside this morning! Freezing ears even around the stables....brrrr.

Not too bad here, few bees out and about about an hour ago, no snow, not even at 1,700 ft ASL.

I take it all back
It's snowing, can't see the other side of the valley.
Time to throw another log on the fire and plan Christmas. Just got that delivery slot from Asda ;)

No snow here but a cool 3c.......just lit the first fire of the Winter and washed up all my feeders. Bee stuff is all tidy , bees sorted, ho hum, bored now..........

Up until yesterday the weather here had been very mild. I imagine this change will see the end of my wasps. Very cold here now, but no snow, as was predicted.

It's cold here in North Wales as well.

We've got a dusting of snow, and have had snow blizzard on and off all day, and the temperature has been down to -1 all day and -4 last night.

The bees are in cluster mode here now

Got very cold down here on the Costa del Fareham ... dropped to 9 degrees ... !!! Very windy though ... wind chill factor was very noticeable .... Silly bees still flying - goodness knows how they handle the cross wind - the hives are sheltered so no trouble once they get below the wall/fence height but not sure how they manage higher up.

One beekeeper told me that on our sea coast one beekeeper placed hives in lower ground surrounded with stone walls - protected from winds ( there is strong wind called bura - about 200km/hour). So he said bees when fly above the line of stone wall were swiftly taken off by the wind..
Next time he placed them exposed to bees know what is happening outside, to don't go out in such weather.
I believe that is possible.
