He came over really well. Good luck to him. Enjoyable to see someone so positive about beekeeping and profit. Especially for an ex banker!

Excellent program and available on catch up. Wish I could sell my honey at the prices he charges.

I loved the way he filtered the honey with a kitchen sieve

Took me back 40 years to when Ted Aldridge learned me how to cut keys .... very quick glimpse of the old locksmiths shop up at the Angel !

Good post thanks!

Anybody know him?

has he your queens Pete

It was very good, I enjoyed watching it also recorded it on sky hard drive to view it again

Good setup too

I liked it too but as stated you always get bits the media adds to make it make sense, fake bits are easy to spot when you know the subject. Extracting the day before market when you run a staff of 30??? The girl running the stall made a comment about it being interesting having the boss help out with the selling.
Good PR generally and gave as good an overview of the process as you can in that timeframe. Bit too much bias towards the veg guy and his odd son for me though ;)

Thanks for the link Millet

There is clearly a strong market for local honey, especially where provenance and origin can be demonstrated; the devil is in the detail and many 'foodies' are genuinely interested in this. He is passionate about this and puts lots of effort in to the branding etc. People will pay (esp in London).

I'm not having a pop Colin but i would not label him as odd, i do not know the lad and he may have a learning disability for all we know..i have a 22yr old cousin with dyspraxia and aspergers he can't ride a bike and to most folk he may appear odd, however he is a cracking lad and really clever in the subjects he is interested in..;)

I didn’t mean offence as I did not watch the whole programme as the market garden didn’t interest me. The bits I saw showed him being awkwardly and randomly affectionate and then standoff towards his dad which just struck me as strange, I didn’t consider autistic spectrum but see your point. so I accept the slap on the wrist, it wasn’t my intention but I will accept the criticism as when I re read my post it can read that way.

250 colonies all over London.. hopes to expand... 60 staff... all extracted with a small spinner and a hand fork.... was this the same company advertising for bulk honey on this very forum some time ago.... and the MD was one of the Canary Warfe quick to riches brigade..... as they say if you want to make a fortune from beekeeping... start with a big one! ....from Shiney's thread

Interesting comparison between a wealthy entrepreneur and a guy seemingly struggling to make a living with just 2 acres and a few pollytunnells... wonder which one got the most pleasure from his efforts?

And enough borage fields to make borage honey,.

https://localhoneyman.co.uk/product/british-borage-honey/

Did he really say he had that many staff?

5 tonnes of honey is 5000kg and he's selling it at how much?

Borage
454g jar of honey £8.00

5kg food grade bucket of honey £70.00

were there inaccuracies or poetic licence by the film crew who cares. i'm sure jo public didnt notice and probably don't care either. if he has raised awareness and helps educate some of my customers its a thanks from me.
