i just had the renewel quote come through

£650 up to £1050, crikey!!!!!

am i the only one that is old enough to rember the good old days of when you were past your 5 years no claims that every year your renewel quote was less than before!!!

it looks as if i am going to have to spend blooming ages on the tinternet trying to find some where else to go instead, robbing dogs they realy are, i would not mind but i have have no accidenets or claims, speeding tickets etc etc in the last 5 years that would alter it.!!

what u drive a zonda ? mine has gone up this year from £250 to £350 which im not happy about but thats for defender 90 2.5ltr 5 year no claims protected

Who the hell was that with HP?

We get change out of that for wife's V70(£350 1 £1500 claim van dancing on ice into her but she was deemed at fault) , me works van (250 broker)and m'bike (140 but 26 with tcb and new customer discount) all commercial f/comp and all same insurer as previous yr RSA.

Do you have top cash back or quidco?
Use the comparison sites to get best quote, clear cookies then go back to best overall deal via tcb or q'co for even more off, some of the ins co's are not listed.
Talk to a broker or move out of the city.

Russ.

Try for web based quotes...

For a start you should get an introductory discount of £50 with most companies.

The odd thing is that often you can finish up with the same company but with a new policy..

Try Swinton......Google it.. Always worth getting some new quotes EVERY YEAR.

last year my old Mazda was £115 all in ... same company re quoted me £350 this year after my no claims was 11 years and not 10 ???? :ack2:

searched the web still the cheapest was £200 ish

Buy a classic...

1986 Bentley..... 6.7 litre..Fully Comp.... £155.00 Buy an even older one and what you save on road tax pays for the insurance with some left over...:auto:

First thing is you should have been looking around before your renwal came through for best quote.

The best deal/compnay last year is not always the best next year, they just fish you in.

If more than one car, try Amiral multi car.

And final thing is double check that you are not over insuring your self for things like a £5,000 car stereo system or other personal items that will be covered with your house insurance.

Also double check your mileage.

Got my renewal through the post this week another years no claims and its gone up £100 to £550 searched the net and got several quotes got one from santandair ( cant spell it but I sure you can work it out) for £2999
Regards
jar

got my quote though just after Christmas ( 03 mondeo) Gone from £450 to £680, 9 years no claims and they was the cheapest around. They told me that they had to put prices up because of large amount of crashes over the winter and law suits. Quote for my Harley Davidson ------ £159 !!!!!

the old company was swift.

i think its mainly street parking and smethwick that jack up the prices, but even then its still well ott.

the insurence finshes in the end of april so i have been looking for a week but i was just awaiting swifts cover costs.

i all most put my back out again,

tried tescos, £940
direct line £1745, yes thats right!!!!!!

several others around the £600 mark but they then add to it a massive fee for having it paid via direct debits of at least £250 so they are nearer a grand.

my last car an old knackerd ford escort fully comp was only £275 with no claims protection on top.

looks as if i am going to have to do some serious investigating next week

I tried them and it was more expensive....
We have 4 vehicles between the 2 of us....

One thing I always find odd........can often work out cheaper with the wife's name on as well...... even if she has no intention of driving it...

I use aviva and my renewal came yesterday... £308. Only £20 or so more than last year. Try them Pete. If you call them they will barter as well...... I always get them down a bit on the phone.... used to be called Norwich Union. I think the car policy no is 0800 015 8935

My broker quoted me £375 so I looked at Direct Line and (oh dear what an admission of age) SAGA. Direct Line was £185 and SAGA slightly more. Car is 5 year old Suzuki Swift.

Lesson I think is not to stay with the same company too long and using brokers is not really necessary for most people as there are so many choices available on line.

I passed my driving test in Febuary, went to get a quote on a Vauxhall Corsa which was under 1L and it came back as being £4923!!!
All because I had just passed my test and am a boy...they think I am going to be a boy racer!!!
Currently waiting until my 18th birthday because it is meant to come down a bit when your 18.

Cant believe it is so much, HP. Unless you're running a roller.

i had a quote like that, i brought a £50 mk1 fiesta and the lowest was £2500, so i told them it would be cheaper to run with no insurance and pay the £300 court fine if i got caught. might you that was in 1996 before they started to taking your car away and before ANPR cameras. however i know its wrong to break the law, but i can understand why some people dont have insurance when you get a quote thats nearly 4 TIMES the value of the car is....

for a lot of people what we need is a fixed priced insurence policy say from the post office that is a standard third party only job at say £50 per month and that you can buy monthly from the post office, that would help to sort out a lot of the un insured as they cany afford £4,000

I am with the RAC they said al insurance has gone up 30% £388 09 plate, a friend with an old car says its pointles having full insurance you don't get the value of the car back if it's rote off.
John :cheers2:

odd that you should say that because I was in the PO a couple of week ago and somebody wanted to buy insurance and assistant said no..............he went away not looking happy and my opinion was that somebody of his age should know that you cant buy car insurance over the counter at a PO.... so perhaps he was right and the PO people were wrong or just that they didnt do it at that branch........ I didnt hear all of the conversation..............

very annoying when you dont hear the end of a conversation.........

I'm afraid I am with the classsics. 1970 MGBGT no tax needed and fully comp protected £125. I was upset about the Harley going from £95 to £111, thought that was a bit steep!
