It has been throwing it down all day here with no sign of it letting up and I have just had a call from Hardwick Hall to say there is a swarm in the gardens.

I shall report back later.

I was talking to our BBKA secretary who has been out and collected 2 swarms today even though it hasn't stopped raining all day!

Them bees - do what they damn well please, not what we expect them to do!

They may have swarmed when dry and not found/ or even found but not a sensible place, to stay.

25k rain capes... what a sight

Not to mention the flippers....

Well I got them, a good size too and nice looking bees.

Well done you. It's still always a thrill to go out and catch a swarm...

I hived them last night, 5lb (2.3kg) of bees so not a bad size but a little lethargic so feeder straight on; they had already shifted 3pints of syrup by this afternoon.

I have a good idea who's bees they may be so I shall be asking him at our LBA meeting on Tuesday night. H's not having them back though :)
