Persistent marketing and pyramid selling.............makes Ambrosia, other than direct from source.............a VERY expensive option.
There ARE other brands equally as good... the Ambrosia vendors chuck a lot of negative marketing at other brands, a real offputting thing to me, especially as its false.
Ordered yesterday..........in the low 600's a tonne, delivered home to our base in Scotland. Cheaper if you are further south.
Its still 87p per kilo dry weight though...but no work, no mess, time to get the job done, bees look in great health and well found for winter with these products.
Easy way my Dad made up emergency feed from sugar for small hive numbers used an old Burco boiler....I still see the odd one around......put in 6 gallons of water and bring almost to the boil. Add sugar until its almost full, stir with a clean new broom handle for only a couple of minutes and its all dissolved ready to go.
There are also a huge range of commercially made cyclone mixers if you feel the wish to splash the cash.....said to be a good investment but I don't have one.
Or....as a friend does....put the water in a honey tank. Use a drill with a long shaft and a small propeller (very small unless you want a shower). Clamp it onto the edge of the tank with the shaft into the centre of the tank....add the syrup........leave it swirling until the colour goes dark (means its dissolved and the syrup is near clear)...run off into your containers and take it to the bees.
