I think I'm about to part company with my old wellies. They are cold, damn cold and my trouser legs also tend to work their way out of them because they aren't that high up the leg.

Anyone go good boot recommendations?

Argyle, they are farmer style called Bullseye wellies by Hood , made by Hunter (ie you can tuck your suit in)

Used to be made by HOOD ltd

MM ( AKA GeoffryeHood ,yes i am biased, but no longer have any commercial interest)

Short muckboots, suit zipped outside. Never fancied the bees crawling down the welly myself.

Similar for me. I wear Dickies pull-on dealer boots with steel toecaps round the horses and keep them on when I don my beesuit. The elastic keeps the suit legs tight to the boot tops. Ebay shops my usual source.

Muck Boots every time. So cosy. I use the shorter version with bee suit and never have a problem, suit locks over safely.
But so good for gardening as v light and flexible. My most worn shoes bar none
Note to :xmas-smiley-033: Mine are beginning to wear out.

I have long muck boots
Neoprene keeps your feet cosy and suit easily tucks down stretchy tops with no gaps.

If you want wellies I'd go for Argyll, made by Hunter about 1/4 the price of the ones with a Hunter label!

PS If your feet get cold put an insole in the boots.

JCB Rigger Boots - Waterproof, steel toecaps, pierce resistant sole, padded and toasty warm :)

Will never go back to wellies now.

Argyle short ones. Easy to slip into, trousers go in easily, not cold. well built, mud does not compact into grooves.

Had mine 8 years - like new - when washed..:)

Freefall!

But I'm a laaaaydeeeee

Think I may struggle to lift a foot off the ground :svengo:

That may be so but the OP is a gent according to their profile :)

As Suzi Q says, they're not heavy - in fact they are lighter than my old wellies. I got mine from B&Q so you could pop in and try some...

£30 is about double what I paid for my Argyle boots... but then I am a Scot and an Aberdonian to boot...

Argyle....Boots......Bees
Hmm what could go wrong.

My first proper fight with a hive involved all three, well two of three.
I stupidly got very casual about opening up my hives and being young and stupid I just used to throw a veil on over a hat.
One day I was wearing shortish trousers and brogue shoes with a lovely pair of Argyle socks.
Long story short, the ladies objected to my presence that day and I got nipped on the ankle, followed by another then another until I chucked the hive back together and ran (limped) for the car being chased all the way.
When I got home and took my shoes and socks off I had perfect diamond shapes up both ankles confirming that bees can get very angry for no apparent reason and that brown fury things don't help to calm them down one bit.
