I went to the auction in Woodmansey village hall today. Quite a lot of new stock being auctioned plus a variety of used gear etc. Things moved exceedingly slowly with the first auctioneer. The second guy moved things along quicker.
The bees were sold around 1 o clock. 19 hives/nucs were offered and prices ranged from £110 to £170.
Abelo had a stand at the hall and I bought a pack of dn4 frames for £8 whilst waiting to pay my auction bill.

When I look at the dollar being half the value of the British pound. It shocks me how much more expensive things are where you all are. We paid around 200 USD for our 5 frame nuc.

I agree if the 110 to 170 pounds is for a hive then it's a good deal, but if it is for a nuc it is on the expensive side. Last I saw the British pound is worth about two US dollars. That would make that 220 dollars to 340 dollars.

I paid £230 for my overwintered nuc!

What else did you spend your money on John ?

I was there .... the last six lots of bees were from a guy in Halifax... 8 combs of brood in a Payne's double nuc ...the guy said they were British Queens bred for docility and honey production some one else said his place is at 2000ft went for av £160
The gear bidding was painful as was a sting to the eye hehe

Are we talking about populated nucs or just the nuc boxes?

For the benefit of clarity. The bee auction figures I quoted were all for colonies in boxes. The lower prices were for nucs rising to higher prices for full hives.
Hardware was sold inside the hall but I didn't bother recording those values.
