I'm a bit confused about the gaffer tape, what's it being used for?
I can think of two applications I've seen it being used for, sealing boxes for acetic acid and Mike Palmers strip around the inside of an empty box for shaking bees so that they don't climb out. I know gaffer tape can be used for millions of things but I'm being a bit slow this morning.
I use Kingspan/Celotex to make dividers to dummy down my hives when necessary and I also use blocks of it to fill any unused space in the hive the other side of the divider ... if you leave the uncut edges of the insulation board unsealed the bees will burrow into it. I usually use aluminium tape but on one occasion (big mistake) I ran out of aluminium tape and used gaffer tape to seal the cut edges ... See my post above.
