Government cutbacks....most likely be less bee inspectors, more bank managers.

Now that might be an idea, to get a bank manager exposed to something like a real stinging :)

LOL. I don't mind a bit of "Hombre speak". Means that you have to read the post ultra-carefully... Do need a dictionary sometimes though!!!

While putting the government forward as unlikely to do what other posters have identified them as likely to do, it is foolish to hold up one of the very things the government vehemently denied for years, which is CJD in humans and Bovine Spongiform Encalopathy BSE in cattle.

I first heard of BSE in 1984 and stopped eating beef due to scientists saying they also were not doing so any more. Gummer fed his children beefburgers in 87, as proof of BSE and CJD was hitting the table.

I and many others wrote to no 10 in the early 80s to ask for a ban on imports or at least very strong health controls of imported bees, that were known to be bringing in varroa - they did nothing - the bees pay dearly.

If you want a good idea of government control and its inefficacy, look at the dire straits the country is in at the moment. We don't have long to wait to feel the measures that will be inflicted on most, particularly the less well off and vulnerable as a result of that.

CAP, grants, subsidies et al, allows huge payments to people with millions of pounds worth of land to do almost nothing. It used to be to dig out hedges and a look on Google shows the result of that, barely a field corner to be had, they're all square old style hedges and trees have all but disappeared - paid for by the tax-payer.

Busy Bee speaks much truth, in addition to the good, why the question "How much honey did you produce" on NBU.

NBU is a very good idea ref diseases and hopefully doesn't produce the less able officials that can flourish when these appointments come about.

and note who will be paying for it! Same as the varroa - us and the bees!
