Fingers crossed my sister understands what a Apidea mating nuc box is and my girlfriend was actually listening when i pointed at the commercial nuc box on the tinter web.
Them parcels look awfully soft.... socks again i think?

as chief humbug all i realy want for christmas is the 26th, cause its all over!!

the thing that is my main present from my mummy, and god help anyone who gets in the way of it, is my annual replacement pair of slippers, i love them cheap and practical the best present i could ever wish for.

to me it is supposed to be a religous festival not the disney corporation day.

whilst i truely know it will never happen, nor even would my family aggree to it, my best ever christmas would to only recive gifts and cards and decorations that had been made by the sender, i would not care what they looked like its the thought that realy does carry for me. ten sea shells on a piece of string from my grandson is worth more than any diamonds.

but to everyone else merry christmas and may you walk in peace with your god

roll on the 26th and then the end of the sales (except the beek ones of course ) - at least rooftops had the decency to make his a non-xmas sale!!!

HRP - hope you haven't minded the tongue in cheek references over the past few weeks/months. I'm raising a glass of god awful BA "champagne" to you - i can even "hear" the ***** as it connects with a full bucket of tea!!!

Weelll, I knew - 'cos I ordered it!

J could not think of anything and volunteered a new polyhive, after seeing me perusing the BHS site. After ascertaining they were bottom bee space (all my kit is now top bee space) as well as having a larger footprint than a BS hive, she was a little disappointed, but spent the same money (actually less as she was going to get the complete hive) on a further 5 Langstroth polynucs.

Some of these may be converted with the excess space left at the far end (for overwintering fondant?). I was very much less than disappointed, in fact delighted - that over-wintering more standard national deep sized nucs looks to be a doddle, as the two, already in use, in the garden are presently looking very good.

Now, fingers crossed, hoping that my order will be OK and that there are still stocks left in the MBS sale.

Opened present from mum & dad... Saw a pair of shoes... Masked my ever-so-slight disappointment with the usual thankyou's until mum says to look inside shoes... Piece of paper with details about the nuc that she had ordered for next summer inside.

There is a third alternative. To me it's a time for my widely-spread family to get together. Yes, I know we could do i at other times, but Christmas is the time we're primed for it, and that's what I look forward to. A bit like mince pies.

my position re xmas:

1. if you must be religious, fine, celebrate as appropriate
2. if you work all hours 364 days of the year enjoy the day off with your family
3. JUST DON'T DESTROY SOCIETY & THE PLANET in the name of 1 & 2 above.

It is in my house- I enjoyed my church celebration, try to uphold its teachings, fail sometimes!.
Hate shopping, don't participate in the frenzy- it makes me feel ill!
Why does peoples awful behaviour get labelled to be a result of religious belief.
I fill the house with my family- and we had 2 extra friends at the last minute as they would have been alone.
And I am vegetarian- so some meat for others and lots of scrummy veg.



So DrS - just because others have hijacked our celebration doesn't mean we should forego it too.

Oh and I got a full bee suit for Xmas- no more little visitors creeping up my shirt - make of that what you will!!!
