Probably been asked countless times but I'm thinking of buying a poly hive, what do you people think of them, better or worse than wooden? I find lifting hard going and am hoping poly will prove lighter to manipulate.

Can only find drone brood when I opened up one of my hives, couldn't find the queen (but I'm not good at that).There were raised bumps scattered all over most of the frames. Help what do I do now? :sos:

This year will be my third, my question is how old do you let a queen get, presumably if all's well you leave her alone, when do you get to the point of rearing a new queen? someone told me they get rid of their queens after the third year? confused .com

Yeah I know alot has probably already been said on the subject but due to personal circumstances I've been away from the forum for a while. My bees have been flying almost constantly and so I havn't applied ox acid, is there anything useful I could use to treat them early to help with varroa?

I still consider myself very much a beginner in the bee keeping world, (the new beginners section is great) my question is when do you advance to the point where you consider yourself no longer a beginner!!!!!
