Uncle John definitely spent a lot of time around St Helen's Rugby and Cricket was his world, so to be the groundsman there was second heaven, he would have been sixty then but I think he hung on for as long as he could. short, stout with a beard ex British Steel.

I can't say I remember but I must have met him down there.

Any nitrile gloves now. Later on in the season I switch to Lakeland washing up gloves

Sounds similar to the Sainsbury version at £3.50 a pair when I last looked. I have never used anything else - thicker and very resistant to be stings and last a long time. Can always be removed for finer activity during inspection for marking and clipping.

In the end got a set of Site gloves from Screwfix they have flock lining and not to tight to wear and so far been in hive 3 times and no stings so far and bees seem happy with colour (light blue).

I use the most cost effective nitrile I can find, the OH uses Gruffs Orange nitrile gloves. I sometimes use them myself & have gloves that survived four uses and three times through the washing machine.

Had these recommended to me by another beekeeper tonight. Tried one of his on and it was a much better fit than many (nitriles and others) I've found that have fingers which are too long.

Good to see they are back in circulation now. I wasn't able to order any when I needed them, and of course the price has risen.
