they would work but they are NOT food grade so shouldnt be used as you may get bits of paint coming off them or the bolts rusting etc.

i was trying to find a stainless steel version but these dont seem to say what they are made from. Only give away is 2 tone colour of the metal
 
Defiantly not food grade so not up to the mark, afraid you will have to shell out a bit more dosh I have been down this route as have a few more on here I think.

I suspect it will be a plated steel.
If you have a precision engineers near to you, maybe you will be able to get a length 405 or similar high quality stainless rod.
Then bend the end similar to the old Kenwood dough hook or a question mark. It will work in a drill or by hand, it is smooth and so easy to keep clean.
