I went to look at my hive today and there are only a few bees left. So sad, what did I do wrong. They swarmed about 6 weeks ago but I couldn't find them. There were bees there last week. What should I do know with the two brood boxes. I only started beekeeping last summer.

I guess the left bees haven't had a queen and now all remaining larvae hatched and died the natural way

So what should I do now? Should i empty the brood boxes and put clean foundation in and hope a swarm come to the hive? Wishful thinking!

No.
Bees with no brood rearing duties live a lot longer than the usual six weeks.
Think about how long winter bees live.
It will be something else.
Are there stores left?
Could they have been robbed out and absconded?

Could they of been over fed and swarmed due to honey block?

Hi Sharryanne,
So sorry. Get yourself a late swarm from somewhere. Plenty about.

I will check the supers tomorrow. I didn't now that they could have too much honey. They might have been robbed.
