My Ribes laurifolium shrubs are 'currently' in vogue when warm enough ;). The white ones are just beginning to open now, but it's going to be too cold next week.

Have you guys had a mild winter this year?
Pretty much… for the south of the country it was a long mild autumn that came to an abrupt end with a colder than normal spell for a couple of weeks. Then again after Xmas another week or so of cold again. Certainly no prolonged spells of cold. The thing with the Uk is it’s so variable, the next few weeks could be shirt sleeves or 6 inches of snow.

The cherry (prunus) trees are starting to blossom across Ealing. Just need it to warm up a bit and then the bees will have a shed load of early season pollen.
Same here some already in flower with the black thorn, most just hanging back with the cold.

Absolutely masses of Blackthorn along the A5 around Shrewsbury on the way up to the Beekeeping Show
Nothing here in West Wales, yet

no, blackthorn is a long way away yet, probably waiting for the dandelions.
Noticed that the 'wild' daffodils at the home apiary are on the point of opening

Blackthorn's just on the cusp of opening en-masse here. A few open, most in very mature bud.

Also spotted this just opening up, not sure what it is

There are also some laurels nearby that don't look too far off.

Temps are forecast to be back into double digits from 10th Mar, so if that holds and the weather's fair the season should start kicking off, though still too soon for inspections.

but I think I might risk supers on before March is out unless the weather turns really cold - try and head off a repeat of last year when I had charged queen cells on 4th April.

Snow by Easter then!

Driving around Worcestershire and Warwickshore the Blackthorn is starting to blossom.

My bees are on the daffodils! Thought they were supposed to be poisonous but they seem to have a taste for them this year!
Alder catkins are numerous this year.
Our crocus have excelled and been a real picture.
