Moved the sawtable, cross cut saw, lathe, bandsaw and morticer, and router and the pillar drill into the into the new PortaKabin... at long last!
Dust filter system also nearly plumbed in.
Electrician finally signed off the distribution board and connected the underground cable to the supply. ( Apparently my 4th edition is a bit out of date... now 17th + add ons!)
Baby sedum plants for the green roof propagating well in the pollytunnel... they can now wait for the spring.

60 Nationals to make so better get going!

Where have you put the porter cabin? I would like to sit one or a container on my little plot of land but think I will get complaints!

Just down from the swimming pool next to the other two bee sheds and the pollytunnels... have a couple of acres... well certainly have after moving that band saw!

Smoker Stoppers

I've been making a few of these 'Smoker stoppers', turned from English Oak, these I've finished with solid brass tops. Ideal for your smoker between Apiaries or to transport it in your car.

Very smart. perfect Xmas gifts.
As I soon loose all my stoppers I'll stick with my folded green leaves or grass to close it off.

Cork (shaped if needed) with a hole drilled through and a bit of string to tie it to the bucket handle (never the smoker) ..

If only I was as organised as you.
I have 2 buckets which travel with me but no room for smoker which starts its journey in an old duffle sack then ends up anywhere safe so that the car doesn't catch fire.

Perhaps one of these would do the trick. A smoker box....
Mine carries spare fuel, lighters hive tools etc and smoker.
Shut lid and it seals up so can carry in car and no fumes, although mine tends to live in the back of the truck.

:thanks: Excellent little tip!!
Saw out SBI using one of these ( Abelo) highly recommended... have one clamped into back of Defender....

NEVER carry the fuel & lighter in the same box... and unless you want to do an Oliver 90.... also carry a fire extinguisher!

All my hive tools live permanently in soda/ bleach mix... one bucket with a sealing lid in each apiary + one in the Defender in case I misplace one ( which seems to happen frequently as old age forgetfulness gets in.......

Now what shall I spend Mrs May surprise gift of £10 on this year ( or has she scrapped the Christmas bonus to pay for Trident/ Brexit/ re -homing lost Welsh sheep ? Ulster bribes?????

An interruption of your extended winter break, been very windy here as well for the last few days.

I opted for a quick fix until next year, tarpaulin with wood strip's holding it down. The roof ply is in need of total rip out and with another down poor here tomorrow I don't have time for that! Another big job to add to the list!

I did a 200+mile round trip to USK today to collect some Western Red Cedar. took SWMBO with me. It cost me £50 in the garden centre for patio pots and another £20+ for lunch and tea. I am going to have to place a levy on each hive I make for my colleagues to pay for the trip!!!!!
