What size labels are they, I would love to see a video of you doing 10 labels a minute all straight and in the same place on every jar. The manual labelling machine I use will do 12 a minute, these are 120x60 labels.

They are 99.1 x 57 mm, 10 per sheet...and it's 55 seconds per 10 on average. You are very welcome to pop round with your VCR and record me doing it to show everyone how easy it is to do by hand.
The human eye has a very good sense of straight lines, so all nice and straight and level on 12 (and 8) oz hex jars.

I went down to Usk to collect some WRS to build more hives. Lovely day out with SWMBO
Car smells fantastic this morning
Blimey Brian,
That's quite some trip for some cedar. Is there nowhere closer?
Is it planed or just sawn??

I bought half a tonne from Usk two weeks ago. They were very competitive and helpful. The smell from the stack today was amazing.

I buy mine from a small place on the Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire border. Cut to any size at £17 + vat per cubic foot. I think that's quite a good price.

My honey yields mean time isn’t an issue when labelling! [emoji53]

With the bees going great guns I had to knock up 50 SN1 frames including wax in the last 3 hours plus two new supers..... will have to do the same tomorrow night as well!
Still a load of DN1's to do before the weekend as I got through the best part of 50 yesterday doing 2 Demarees and 5 splits!:hairpull:

Cut out and started making 65 dummy boards costing £68 after pricing up buying them and finding out the total came above £500!!!!!

My first post here and I didn’t really do anything.

But, having made some nuc boxes earlier in the year I have made a decision to make as much of my own stuff as possible. Picked up an Aldi table saw for £40 too, which ought to help.

One of the strangest things about finding beekeeping is that I have really started to enjoy the woodworking. I’m pretty rubbish, but it is fun. I’ve just spotted a pile of WBP ply at in my parents garage, might acquire some to build a few test brood boxes.

Brilliant stuff..I have always liked playing with wood and making things but this bee keeping hobby has set me new goals and puzzles to solve...I now make all my OMF/crown boards/stands/tunnel entrance blocks and any other bits I might need all with the help of my chop saw and table saw...you say you are rubbish..keep at it you will get the hang of it eventualy.

The chop saw I bought made the nuc box cutting a lot easier and more accurate. Hopefully the table saw will be equally useful.

Underfloor entrances are on the list but brood boxes first, because I’m short on those. I’m not entirely sure how to adjust for ply that is 12mm rather than 18, but I’ll see it more easily once I can manipulate the pieces.

Started the paint job on the Abelo poly hive I bought so it's less obvious to potential thieves. Not finished yet but still :)

I have to say, I'm impressed by the B&Q paint (Grey), that's only one coat. Better than the Wickes stuff (Sandstone) after two coats... And cheaper!!

First time making supers today, made 2 nationals. They are better than I thought they would be, as long as the bees don't have a set square I think they will be fine.

That looks very appealing.

Do you take orders? :sunning:

Ha thanks :D

The masking wasn't great but I'm happy with the imperfections. All done now.

I prefer it to the yellow and blue it came in
