Good point - never considered robbing.
This hive had plenty of stores upto 10 days ago, but since then hasn't felt as heavy (which I'd put down to the poor weather). I watched the bees on the landing board and there seemed to be two or more bees who would take one victim, drag it back down the landing board and onto the ground. What should I do from here?

It may just be a result of the feeding but reduce the entrance even down to two beespace.

If possible feed later in the day, less bees flying so less bees looking for easy pickings.

Don’t spill any syrup close to the hive and if using contact feeder up turn well away from the hive.

Sometimes bees that are hassled by wasps can be a bit jumpy and challenge bees returning to the hive. I have not seen a bad case of robbing other than the net but have seen bees fighting at the entrance sometimes I guess they try it on but if strong enough and a reduced entrance the hive can repel the cancers but it can go bad.

Probably not great idea to gloss paint the inside of a load of poly feeders in a small hospital accommodation room.

window is wide open to get rid of the fumes as best i can. sorry flatmates!!!!

Bloody SHOs think they own the damn hospitals. lol

Come the revolution of privatization when Tesco and Sainsbury buy in you won’t be doing that.

I'll have you know i'm a Consultant - albeit one slumming it temporarily!!!!

Upgraded the tempsensors on the tree nest model to 12bit (0.0625C). The previous ones had lower resolution and were less accurate

That normally means one of two things... the Mrs. has caught you out and chucked you out or you have moved jobs to another area.

the second - slumming it in Liverpool while awaiting a longer term post to be confirmed down south. The Prof here has been pestering me to come up and help out for 18 months and found myself desperate for work over the summer.

As SWMBO was out moved some items I'd bought at the Maisie Moores sale back in the summer from the chamber of secrets up to the attic out of the way:D

JBM I SO like your style. Do you think your SWMBO and my HWMBO are related in any way? I always wait til HWMBO is out before opening bee packages.

Talking about feeding, can some one tell me the recipie for fondant, I can't find it for the life of me.

Took off the Apiguard, prised off the ekes, closed up the feed holes, put on the mouseguards and left the ladies to finish off their winter stores (if they can find any room - all four are on eleven frames of stores) with the abundance of ivy that's in flow around here at the moment.

I was caught out when she had the new miniature dachshund. I had some young colonies in the piece of land I've been clearing behind the garden (the 'secret garden') which she knew nothing about. She called me to say that the bograt, sorry, dog was settling in well and was fascinated by the bees and spent her time sitting under the hives watching them go about their business. I made a comment to the fact that all the dogs seem to like that corner of the garden and she replied ' no, not them THE OTHER HIVES THAT HAVE TURNED UP IN UNCLE RHYS'S PLOT' I think number of hives now come under the same vague heading as number of guns in the gunroom! :D
