What breed are my bees?

Not really sure - they look a little like Buckfasts which I am trying unsuccesfully to bring on.

They are notable by being very docile.

Common or garden mongrels :)
Check the differing band patterns ! What ever queen was; her off spring are the result of multiple matings with drones in the area :)

Does that mean they're hardy?
 
It means you have to judge them on there own merit but should / could be adapted to your area..

They will have bits of many breeds and hopefully should show some of the better ones.
 
they look exactly like my bees - which are in an apiary with italian, carniolan and native black mongrels - some even with pedigrees from NZ! go figure :D
