There have been a few requests for a video on this. Like many things its not as difficult as it seems once you have a go. I hope this helps (on the forum video tab).

Price-wise I reckon fondant is about £15 / 10kg including postage / delivery. Based on 50p/Kg for sugar (+ glucose) this home made stuff comes out at about £6/kg and 20 mins per 2Kg batch. You could push that to 4 Kg easily, save time and cut it up later provided you had a container large enough for the cooling water (which I do not!). R

Great video Rosti. Made my first fondant a week or so ago and was usable but not perfect. This has really helped for making my next batch. Thanks!
BK :)

Very useful, Rosti. I didn't knead the fondant when I made it, but I spent much, much longer stirring as it cooled. Would that be why I didn't have lumps in it? Is it just a trade off on time/effort?

In actual fact I do keep scraping from the sides into the middle when cooling (also makes the process quicker). So that people could see the temperature gauge I kept stopping for the video so it's not an absolute representation of the cooling process I'm afraid.

Great video, thanks:.) Make doing the next lot a fair bit easier, I thinks.

Right! I am going to try again as all previous has produced rocks.:ack2: I have a jam temp gauge- maybe it isn't precise enough?

Well done, Rosti.

Shows how really simple the process is.

But you missed one important step! SWMBO said you should have mentioned cleaning the kitchen afterwards!

Regards, RAB

Thanks for the video.

Just one question about feeding!

Are you using an eke on top of the brood box then crown board on top of the eke? I'm just wondering how you have the room to put a slab on top of the frames?
