Still struggling to know which way to go. It's like asking people (versions of code) that you suspect lie or unreliable... codeA says X is the worst case, might take 6 and codeB says take route Y and worst case 5. Is A better at spotting worse possibilities (my logic is select best of all available worst outcomes) or is A just worse at picking the right one (down to my scoring logic)...
Wordle 1,247 4/6* old
236 max 6 new code [but max 5 with old code]
3, max 4

Wordle 1,247 4/6* Jan24
31, max 4 (new code different try2, both find same worst case)
2, max 4
t'other (Carefully forgot which it was)
Wordle 1,247 4/6* Aug2024
74, max 5 (new and old code agree everything)
17, max 5
2, max 5
50/50?? field of clover?
New code suggests a new starter...
Wordle 1,247 4/6* Nov24
32, max 6 (target is in the worst case group)
6, max 6. older code suggests same try2 and outcome
5, max 6
2, max 6
50/50 maybe?
WIth this new starter the new code predicts a worst case max of 7, is that due it being better at finding the real worst cases though?
(or a bug or just bad logic/attitude...)
Bot: not too tricky, 3.9 (actually quite a high average)
