312 3/6 although there were 3 words I could see that could fit on that turn, so I was lucky to be right guessing the most likely.

Can I ask opinion? Yesterday I showed my first word, without indicating what was correct at all, just that it was a fruitful start despite only finding 3 letters and 2 in wrong places. I was able to guess on turn 2 though maybe there might have been other options if I thought longer.
I think that sharing start word, without the hit/miss info, allows more interesting explorations of how the puzzle went for those who have the answer and yet does not give away much unless someone wants to try repeating the same path...
Conversely I do not find the green/yellow/grep patterns expand the puzzle much, and mainly show the lucky guesses.

Of course no-one wants spoilers, though I never look here until I have completed it...

Also there is a harder rule/optional mode of play where you must keep yellow letters and green spots rather than get more info by eliminating other letters, which clearly roche (above) does not do as he varied the known greens, first and last, on line 2...
What's you preference on the most fun way to play?

It depends on my mood! Sometimes I am sure I know it to fail miserably! Other times it's pure luck! Sometimes I use all different letters just to eliminate some and other times I build on what I have

I guess I am looking for the fastest solution - I very rarely spend more than 2-3 minutes. I also use a fixed set of words. I guess that is a bit lazy, but the puzzle itself is a bit of procrastination, so I feel I should minimise the time taken...

cwinte.
the idea of the 3 colours plus black is to help you deduce the target word rather than guess?

It's strange what can work as a spoiler. If I happen to read that someone found the puzzle tricky or that they struggled then I can't help wondering if the word might have less common letters or repeated letters.

I try to play in "hard mode", though I don't have it enabled.

I suspect some people do and I have often done the first line without a single correct letter. Having the first one done for me changes the whole game.

Wordle 313 2/6
After the first guess only 2 letters would fit I choose the right one .
