Ok but you'd agree that putting them on wet would be the same as honey in a thymol solution? ;)

Anyway I wanna know how the hell honey acts as an emulsifier. How does it make oil and water mix?

Putting supers on wet does not help oil and water mix.
Lecithin does. (... emulsify the aqueous and organic phases ... which is why its an ingredient of so many salad dressings, and this tonic syrup recipe).

No I meant putting a super on wet would cause the same robbing as honey in a thymol solution

It doesn't, that's the point - another one to put down in the duff advice bin

At some point you will find out that the thymol mix I made, using some honey instead of lecithin does work...it may defy school chemistry...but it does work. However, if you prefer your own recipe...well crack on....

Can vodka be used as a substitute for isopropyl? I thought I had IPA at home but apparently not. I do, though, have vodka.

I wonder what Finman would do?!

thymol

You havent met my kids. I'm already more stressed than I was at home. A tent in 30+ heat is not a cheerful proposition. Thornes deliver to France I hope as I can't find thymol crystals over here so far from any apiculteur website

Many places in France sell thymol, try icko apiculture or bijenhof and they both deliver.

A bit belated but, if you put wet supers above the cover board - in the evening and with the feeder hole closed down to one bee space - robbing (in my experience, at least) doesn't happen. The bees will clean up the wet super and take the booty down to the box/es below. It's the sort of thing I do at about the time I put the chickens to bed....
