Sunny here today with a bitter wind very cold indeed, only half an hour of snow yesterday which did not settle. Chris :sunning:

Forecast is for another reasonably mild week, warming up more as the week goes on,still no night time frosts, a nice mild winter so far.

Although a tad wet i assume Hivemaker, cold and wet as usual here, watch out in 10 days or so for the snow which is hitting the east coast of the USA at the moment

It will most likely be like the tropics here in ten days, so any snow will of just turned to drizzle.

Is it cold, wet and miserable in the Tropics at this time of the year as well then :D

.'
We have had a mild winter here in February.

Wind pushed away the ice cover of sea in front of Helsinki.

Here are near 0C temps. We do not see much sun here.

length of day is 8,5 hours.

Sun shining angle is 14 degree. It is same as in London 21.12.

I thought London was always a cold place.

nay, Mr little, it is normally warm, with 8 million people putting out 100w body heat we have the equivlent of 800, 000 one bar electric fires on day and night.

Can get very hot and steamy, well it does done my Local pub

Just started snowing (in a half hearted sort of way) here in S London

Hivemaker

"a kind of hostile feel" totally agree

I first lived in London in the early sixties... since then over 2 million 'incomers' have introduced their own customs and totally changed it We used to be famous for stepping aside and opening doors, saying "sorry" when someone bumped into us and queuing. All this has disappeared

Not a rant, an observation....

agree in the most part. London still works on it old village centers just like the coutnryside, just the fields now grow houses instead of cattle and Trees

if you wander out of your safe village location ,you dont know the safe areas and it can be threatening as it is so large .

i can take you tranquil parks with ladies playing bowls and mums and toddlers taking tea, yet 10 minutes drive away with no apparent boundaries in some areas you would not find a person with English as a first language and other areas where crack cocaine and herion are openly on sale in parks that look identical to the one near me

:yeahthat:
totally :offtopic: but all of that really annoys me. That and people coughing in my face, never carrying a tissue, sneezing on my head, wiping their noses on ther hands or arms, physically pushing in order to board trains etc. Most of that happens on the daily commute...that and also, people not washing or knowing about the existence of deodorant. Personally I don't think we can blame other cultures. It's our fault for not sharing and educating people about our customs. It bothers me so much I've been considering paying for some info stickers on hygiene:rant: to stick on the tube trains every morning.
Thinking of starting a society. Maybe it could be an educational charity. Education, Manners, Custom and Hygiene....anyone think of a good name? MESH?

in london it would be slight different

30% would put up the poster, 30% would kill it and/or eat it. 30% would try to get the garden defined as an area of Special Scientific Interest and the last 10% would be to drugged up to notice it at all
