Hopefully tree removed off of roof tomorrow, all things being equal! Unlike dpearce we don't have much damage at the moment, just broken tiles and guttering and no leaks. After removing the tree it might be a different story! All things can be repaired, but I must admit I would have been more upset if the hives had been damaged. At least we are in the house (with added insulation!) and Christmas dinner is smelling good! Merry Christmas everyone!:xmas-smiley-016:

Ummm. ... . . . . . .

It ain't going to be only "North of Watford" that suffers. .......

No ? ?
In any case, the BBC will tell us all that it was much worse south of Watford! !:hairpull::hairpull:

It sounded like we were in the path of an express train in a tunnel all night.
An ancient pink Elder has split down the middle and half was wrenched off onto the chicken coop......Thank God for Omlet plastic :)

I checked for condensation under crown boards yesterday and worried that I hadn't strapped them up properly.

All OK though and storm continues to rage.

I do sometimes wonder if I should have used bigger nails when I put the house roof back on a few years ago!
Thankfully not too windy in this part of the world.
Hope all out there in the windy parts are doing ok.

It's just a normal winter storm here.. No more than a couple of old trees down.

But judging by the BBC coverage, it's the end of the world as it is the SOUTH...

Little update - about 3 tonnes of conifer removed from the roof this afternoon. I can't tell you what a relief that is! The damage is mostly confined to broken tiles and the top of a gable wall that took the weight, all sheeted down for now so weather proof too.
I hope that dpearce is having as much luck as we seem to have had. Meanwhile the bees seem to be oblivious to everything.......

Any one heard how Doug (dpearce) is getting on?

Hi Derek.

Doing ok thanks, the weather down here was nowhere as bad as forcast last night. some neighbours lost fences and things but no more damage to anyones properties.

Will start the sort out tomorrow as the weather is hopefully be a bit better.

Coupled with high spring tides, wonderful.

The Severn bore could be really bad over the next couple of days, hope the Somerset levels survive un-flooded.

The are forcasting 6.7m tides with .25m surge. that's higher than it was last month with the flooding. The road through shoreham airport was closed today as they are looking at possible flood problems there again as they haven't finished rebuilding from the last one that happened.

Quay street in Minehead, and several other places are getting ready to evacuate, 11.20m tide.

OMG that would swamp most of the south of England and London by about 5M. if we had tides that high.

....Avoid sea fronts'

In Somerset, with a spring high tide expected to peak at around 07:45 GMT on Friday, coastal communities are also being urged to brace themselves for potential flooding.

Porlock Weir, Minehead, Dunster Beach, Blue Anchor, Stolford, Steart and Burnham-on-Sea are all likely to be hit.
