Good day today - I've managed to find a temporary out-apiary more than 3 miles away

I wanted one, so that the nuc I want to move from my neighbours drive to my home apiary (50 meters) can go away for a few weeks, rather than move them over two months!.

Next question, how many weeks should they stay away - would 4 (Or less) be sufficient, or do I need to go the whole 6?

Even better news - the place they're going to - the chap may be interested in becoming a beekeeper himself.:D

Three weeks will do it as will four (in case precocious ones have been orientating) but not less.

Its just possible that this year you might require more than 4 weeks as a Flying bees life is dependent on its wing life this maybe extended this year if they have been unable to fly because of the weather.
