If you are in a hurry, it's easy to miss a notification.


"PM sent" is also a polite message to say "let's continue this talk in private".

Maybe the notification could be made a bit more, er, noticeable?

I had my first pm sat there for a couple of weeks. I wasn't expecting it and didn't bother to look at the box to see if anyone was trying to contact me. When I finally noticed it I owed RAB profuse apologies, for indeed, he had sent me a private message.

Since then, I check every time I come on to the forum, not that anyone ever wants to pm me.

If you go into user CP, you can set to have a message flashed up, or an email sent to you, or both, whn you have a pm. Seems pretty noticeable if I ever get one!

The forum can send a message to your email address to inform you when someone sends you a private message.

If you are browsing the forums when you receive a new private message, the system can pop-up a notification box informing you of the new message.

Is it just me or does all this forum stuff hurt your head?

I am pretty new to forums by the way.

I can see that from my point of view it would be great to obtain some advise from other members whom I trust (and you know what, I do) about where to get queens and the like and for a new to bees person this is just fab advise that money couldn’t buy. I would imagine there are so many breeders who are doing it for the love of it and have a real desire to improve bee stock for us all.

But then I see the other side, in that the forum would just become a selling zone with loads of 'I didn’t like your service' or 'well if you had come to me and got my new improved, bottom and top bee space, NASA approved, self extracting, internet linked hive, you wouldn’t have these problems' type threads, which I would hate.

I feel a bit sorry for Bees4you as he/ she/ they, feel jumped on, but at the same time the job Admin has on here is unbelievable.......and lines need to be drawn. Or the whole thing would not be as good as it is.

So thanks Admin I have no idea how I would navigate all this stuff!
