I'm looking for some kind of visual statists of the introduction of varroa in the UK. Or any form of graph or chart that can show a reduction in populations. If anyone has one or has seen something like it can you let me know? Thanks I've been scouring google but can only find U.S related statistics

Seems that the number of beekeeperes and colonies of bees being kept has risen despite the importation of varroa into the UK?

All I've ever seen were a series of outline maps of England with grid squares showing the annual spread of V.
Probably sourced from defra = have you asked them or NBU?
After all, we pay their salaries

Arrival rather than importation. No-one is sure of the exact mode of its first occurrence in the UK. There are many theories, most of which are the idea that fits with the beliefs of the person doing the telling. Most commonly repeated one is that is was indeed an importation, into a certain monastic establishment in a Devon sort of direction. But who knows for sure. There are several demonstrated vectors of long distance spread that do not require intentional bee importation. After the event finger pointing and blood letting are a waste of time anyway.

However.............number of beekeepers apart........in many place there has been a rise in number of colonies kept post varroa, especially in commercial outfits, where, due to increased losses and poorer condition colonies, it was necessary to keep more just to stand still.

The current rise in numbers of beekeepers in part of the greening trend, and the resulting upsurge in interest in bees themselves. This part of the phenomenon is not directly linked to varroa, althouth the 'bees in crisis' publicity that flowed from it undoubtedly influenced the trend.

Not just the bees in crisis after this year
