Hi - I've got a question on raspberry honey as the information in books & internet is a bit thin.

Has anybody managed colonies on raspberry fields, if so what does it taste like and does it crystallise like OSR or does it just granulate quickly?

Thanks, R

Not personally but my first wife's granny did and from what I remember it does granulate fast but not as fast or as hard as OSR.

Good luck with it.

PH - does that mean it's best to follow same philosophy as OSR honey i.e. let it set in a bucket then break the crystals up or is it safe to jar it up without letting it crystallise?

Raspberry honey has very weak aroma. It is best to mix with other qualities. Raspberry flowers gives huge yields.

Finman, do you put your bees near apple orchards? Would bees on raspberries produce about double the honey as those on apples?
