Ive got a WBC that needs an AS. Due to gear and space, I wondered if I can use a Snelgrove but put the SB on another National colony that sits next to the WBC? The National is a mated queen hive from another split and could use flying bees to bolster it. I can manipulate the use of the WBC to the resulting stronger hive later.

Question: The National has no supers. Does the mesh allow enough pheremone "transfer" over the initial 4 days to mean that when the bleed starts on the first door change, new born and nurse-converted flyers will assimilate with the new colony below? No fighting?

Anyone have any views?

To be honest I don’t know how it would work without the supers in between, would there be enough separation between the brood boxes?

If space is limited do you have enough lifts on your WBC to do a Demaree? Would be much less messing.

Snelgrove is a bit like Demaree in the sense that the boxes are stacked and the processes rely, in part, on pheromone transfer. However Demaree is preventative swarm measure where as Snelgrove is used for actual AS so Demaree is not suitable for my objective in this case.

Do you have a nuc box?

7 of them. All being used for previous AS or rearing.
