Any tips for cleaning the chamber of a smoker of the tar and crap within?

Use such a stuff which does not generate tar. Rotten leaf wood is such.

i have always been a cardboard and or hessian rag man myself

1/4 dry grass on bottom 1/2 hessian sack in middle 1/4 dry grass on top.
